That’s me

I have spent my entire professional life as a freelance language expert catering my services to my clients: as a teacher of English, an interpreter, a translator, voice actor, text writer, and communication expert. The full gamut of my experience will come to fruition as I bundle and personalize my offer. This is the time to be nearer to your needs, to listen to your story and to tell it to a wider world as I am there for you as the person I am. As your language coach I will make you fit for the challenging tasks you have to fulfill in English. As your chronicler I will give testimony to your life and activities. And in the noblest of roles I will moderate a non-religious funeral service as you look to find a dignified farewell for a beloved person.

After 20 years as a freelance service provider for Swiss Television SRF I am today a full member of the editorial staff of “Sternstunden”, a program dedicated to philosophy, religion, and art. As a voice actor I work for Swiss Television, record audio books for the Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired SBS and produce voice overs and commercials in the Swiss private market.

Since obtaining my diploma as a conference interpreter at the renowned Ecole de Traduction et d’Interprétation ETI at the University of Geneva in 1993 I have been working as a freelance conference interpreter for German and English (also from French) in the private market. I am a member of the international association of conference interpreters aiic, whose stringent admission procedures are a guarantee for quality.

As a young man already I started teaching adults in English, before creating my own language school TALK in Belp. There, I launched a pilot program for English at primary school level, before extending my teaching activities to the secondary school. I was then called to teach at the teacher training institutes and the University of Bern. I developed original and unique formats for private lessons tailored to the specific needs of my clients.

What fills me with happiness

• Life is a stage. I made this experience when I was picked as leading actor for a Swiss dialect performance of the play “Everyman” when sitting in a garden restaurant. I love the proximity of the audience in my readings and am perfectly aware of the magic involved at such meetings.
• Life is art. Or at least it would be nothing without it. Musical concerts is where I resource and nourish my soul. I have known paintings to transform deeply held truths. Novels allow me to walk down roads untraveled.
• Life is immersion. I love to find fulfillment in discerning slightest variations in my daily walks through the same landscape. Happiness comes from the repeated experience of daily intimacy and caring. Total immersion in learning Japanese kanji reminds me of a time when life was full of new discoveries.
